1.0 Tournament Rules Outline

Great effort, study and research have gone into the formation of these rules.  The following rules for tournaments will remain unchanged, except for special tournaments conducted by K-W CAMBRIDGE BASSMASTERS.

Interpretations and enforcement of these rules shall be left exclusively to the Tournament Director.  In the event of a rule violation, the Tournament Director may impose such sanctions as he deems appropriate, including, without limitation, disqualification, forfeiture of prizes and prohibition from participation in subsequent tournaments.

In the following rules, all references to ‘he’ or ‘him’ refer to members of any affiliated chapter members of both sexes.  The decision of the Tournament Director and tournament officials shall be final in all matters.

2.0            Eligibility of Tournament Participants

2.1:      Eligible Members for Tournament Participation: Only active, paid-in-full members, (including       magazine subscription), are entitled to participate in Club Tournaments.

2.2:      Tournament Participation: Participation in these tournaments is by INVITATION only.  This       tournament is open only to members of B.A.S.S., who are 16 years of age or older, and who are      an active member of K-W CAMBRIDGE BASSMASTERS or other affiliated chapters.  Proof      of age to the satisfaction of tournament officials is the responsibility of the potential competitor.

2.3:      Tournament Entry Deadline: The draws for all tournaments will take place at a predetermined            time and place.

2.4:      Tournament Registration Deadline: If chapter members wish to participate in a tournament they         must register for the tournament on, or before, the Tuesday prior to the described event, unless    otherwise stated.  Registration can be completed by contacting the Tournament Director or         designated members of the Tournament Committee.

2.5:      Tournament Schedule: The Tournament Schedule will be prepared by the Tournament    Committee of the K-W CAMBRIDGE BASSMASTERS for distribution prior to the start of     every tournament season.

2.6:      Designation of a Tournament Boater: A competitor answering affirmatively the question, "Will           you bring a boat & motor?" will be expected to make that boat & motor available for     tournament use by himself and his daily partner, if so requested by tournament officials.

2.7:      Designation of Tournament Non-Boater: Those answering the same question (Section 2.6)   negatively will be presumed not to have a boat & motor available and will be paired with one           who does when possible.

2.8:      Eligibility to Participate in Regional Qualifying Events: As a participant in K-W CAMBRIDGE             BASSMASTERS tournaments, all members are eligible for qualifying for entry into the Ontario             BASS Federation Nation Qualifying event.  If you qualify during the regional qualifying event,     you will then be invited to be a contestant in the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Divisional      Tournament and/or the National Championship. Entry deadline date for final tournament shall        be 21 days prior to the first competition day of each tournament.

2.9:      Draw for Tournament Pairings: The draw will be done by the Tournament Director (or a    designated Tournament Committee member) and in the presence of a witness.  Only members         of the K-W CAMBRIDGE BASSMASTERS may attend.  This draw will be held at a location        to be announced in advance.

2.10:    Pairing of Tournament Participants: Two contestants will be assigned to each boat.              Announcement of your fishing companion shall be made at tournament draw.  It shall be the     responsibility of each partner to appear at a mutually agreed upon location with sufficient time    remaining to check out at the official checkpoint and start on time.  Tournament officials shall     have no responsibility for finding missing partners.

2.11:    Exceptions to Pairing of Contestants: The Tournament Director, at his sole discretion, may           reassign partners prior to the morning take-off.  Pairings may be made regarding safety            considerations or a team’s knowledge of certain waters (i.e. knowledge of dangerous areas or       new water).  It is recommended that a minimum of 1 hour is required to change pairings prior to the start of a tournament.

2.12:    Boater and Non-Boater Teams Must Remain Together During Event: When two contestants      check-in at the beginning of the day, they must stay together and within sight of each other and        each others catch throughout the day, until the weigh-in is completed, except in the case of dire       emergency (see Rule #13).

2.13:    Contestants Sharing Catches of Bass: A contestant must not allow any bass caught by him to be    counted on the score of another contestant.  In such a case, both contestants shall be disqualified   from this tournament and from all future tournaments conducted by the K-W CAMBRDIGE          BASSMASTERS.  This rule only applies to the Club Championship Tournament, as all other        tournaments run by K-W CAMBRIDGE BASSMASTERS are team events.

2.14:    Start Positions for Tournaments: Start positions will be done as names are drawn for partners,          first out #1, etc.  If there are more boaters than non-boaters, the Tournament Director &      Officials will ask if any boater would volunteer to become a non-boater.  If there are no     volunteers, then the Committee will draw to see who becomes the non-boater.

6.4:      Inclement Weather Delays on Tournament Day: Tournament officials have the right to delay or       cancel the start of an official tournament day because of bad weather or other factors that would         endanger the safety of the competitors.  Tournament waters may also be restricted at any time     because of bad weather.

13.3:    Must Contact Tournament Official During Emergency: If a competitor must violate any of the        above conditions (to contact a tournament official by phone or other means or to report an             emergency or breakdown), both competitors must cease fishing at this point, and their catch       must be verified by a Tournament Official in order to be counted in the tournament.

13.4:    Tournament Restart After Emergency Event: If after the emergency situation is resolved by     tournament officials and enough time is left for competitors to resume fishing, a RESTART will       be allowed and the competitors will continue and their catch will be counted.  This applies only    to dire emergency situations.
